OMID Canals 1 & 2 Piping Project – Now in Design Phase

OMID is designing a project to pipe approximately 8 miles of the tail ends of Canals 1 & 2, helping modernize aging infrastructure originally built in the early 1900s.

Why it matters: ✔ Reduced water loss and improved efficiency ✔ Greater drought resilience for agriculture ✔ Improved water quality and aquatic habitat ✔ Increased public and operational safety

The project is federally funded, currently in early design, and construction would occur primarily outside irrigation seasons—without impacting water delivery.
